2839 - System z10: Enterprise Class (EC) User Experience
A panel of speakers will present migration experiences from four different installations. The information presented will include the planning, installation, testing, and use of the new z10 Enterprise Class processor from IBM. The speakers will describe their configurations, test and roll-out plans, and their experiences with new z10 exclusive features. Even when you do everything right, things do not always go according to plan, and the speakers have a few war stories to share. Resource utilization measurements for z/OS, CICS, IMS, and other subsystems and middleware were taken. Hardware and software configuration changes were implemented as necessary to ensure acceptable performance and levels of service when migrating from z9 to z10. The speakers will share their experiences with z10 features such as HiperDispatch, large page support, hardware instrumentation, zHPF, and more. There should be ample time at the end for an interactive question and answer session with the panel.
